Treatments

Following an appointment and with a confirmed diagnosis, we can offer patients a variety of treatment options.

We may also refer you to your GP for relevant blood tests, if we feel that these are required to identify or eliminate all of the underlying causes of your hair loss and/or scalp condition.

We can provide specialist scalp treatments to relieve scaly, itchy conditions, that can complement, and work alongside antibiotic and steroid treatments as prescribed by your doctor.

When to see a Trichologist

Accessing diagnosis and treatment for hair loss via the NHS can be difficult to navigate with some conditions being considered only cosmetic. As such, Eva can advise on your particular condition and whether it is likely to be considered and treated as a medical condition by the NHS. Otherwise, she can refer to specialist private practitioners (such as dermatologists) to help meet your specific needs.

Before beginning any course of treatment with Eva – or before any cosmetic solution or treatment pathway is decided upon – full financial considerations will be discussed with you to ensure that we are working within your budget.

All treatment and advice provided by UK Hair Consultants follows the Institute of Trichologists ethical code. We never promise miracle cures and we never oversell or hard sell to any of our patients. Hair and scalp issues are very individual, as are the possible treatments and solutions. Our first priority is to ensure that you are happy and that the stress caused by your hair loss and/or scalp issues is lifted.

Hair loss can be difficult to come to terms with, as your hair is often part of your identity and ‘persona’. It can affect your confidence and self-esteem, and for some people lead to anxiety and depression. We can help by providing both physical and medical solutions, however if you are finding it difficult to deal with mentally, we strongly advise you speak to your GP. They may suggest counselling, and you may also benefit from joining a support group and speaking to other people in similar situations.

Charities such as Alopecia UK,, have support groups and online forums where you can connect to other people experiencing hair loss.
