Consultations

Hair issues are often complex and we cannot diagnose without a face to face consultation. All consultations are private and last for between 40 minutes and 1 hour. During this time, all relevant areas of health, diet, lifestyle, family history, hair care regime will be discussed, along with an in-depth examination, including the use of a specialist scalp camera to arrive at a diagnosis and treatment plan also a referral to your GP if necessary.

When to see a Trichologist

Eva may take small hair samples for microscopic examination, and may also require blood test results to complete her diagnosis.  Everything will be fully discussed during the consultation, answering all of your questions. Often, fact sheets are available for you to take home with you, and we are always available to answer any questions that may arise once the consultation has taken place.

After the consultation, Eva will write to you (and your GP if required) outlining her findings. If treatment is determined, there will be a follow-up to ensure the effectiveness usually around 3-4 months later. Follow up appointments are usually around 20-30 minutes.

All consultations and advice is strictly ethical as governed by the Institute of Trichologists ethical code, we never promise miracle cures and we never oversell or hard sell to any of our patients.  Hair and scalp issues are very individual as are the possible treatments and solutions. Our first priority is to ensure that you are happy and that the stress caused by hair and scalp issues is lifted.

Genetic hair loss is not covered on the NHS, however, most other diseases or conditions that contribute to, or cause hair loss are. Upon diagnosis, Eva will (if required) write to your GP advising them of her findings and her recommendations.
