How is hair loss treated?
Once we have completed the consultation and made a diagnosis we are able to offer a variety of treatment options to you.
We may refer you to your GP for relevant blood tests, if we feel that these are required to identify or eliminate all of the underlying causes for your hair and scalp condition.
We can provide specialist scalp treatments to relieve scaly, itchy conditions, that can also work alongside antibiotic and steroid treatments from your doctor.
We pride ourselves that we always strive to work with the leaders in the field of scalp and hair and can refer you to the most appropriate professional solution for your individual needs.
Genetic hair loss is not covered on the NHS, however most other diseases or conditions that contribute to, or cause hair loss are.
Before any course of treatment, or solution is decided upon, full financial considerations will be discussed to ensure that we always work within your budget.
All treatment and advice is strictly ethical as governed by the Institute of Trichologists ethical code, we never promise miracle cures and we never oversell or hard sell to any of our patients. Hair and scalp issues are very individual as are the possible treatments and solutions, our first priority is to ensure that you are happy and that the stress caused by hair and scalp issues is lifted.
Hair loss can be difficult to come to terms with. The hair on your head can be a defining part of your identity. If you start to lose your hair, it can feel as if you're losing part of your identity. This can affect your self-confidence and sometimes lead to depression. We can help by providing both physical and medical solutions, however you should speak to your GP if you're finding it difficult to deal with your hair loss. They may suggest counselling. You may also benefit from joining a support group or speaking to other people in the same situation – for example, through online forums.
A number of charities, such as Alopecia UK, have support groups and online forums where you can talk to others who are experiencing hair loss.
